A BIG CONGRATS on reaching that 2.75M mark and your nice new race car! Wow! Truly awesome! Keep going another million or more! Most GBs will never make it to 1M, and many retired at 2M, but you have made it to 2.75M! You're one of only 871 of more than 8,000,000 GBs that have accumulated at least 2,750,000 points! Many of the GBs ahead of you have already retired, only 518 GBs have continued and made it to 3M! Doesn't look like Pat is going to give up the #1 spot anytime soon, even after a near fatal motorcycle accident in April 2012! So keep going! You're doing great! Keep going like a PRO Philly GasBuddy! Have nice weekend! Thanks! Ron

For the Record: The Senate ratified the treaty establishing the current maritime boundary between the U.S. and the Soviet Union (now Russia) on Sept. 16, 1991. READ THAT AGAIN if you CAN... SEPT. 16, 1991 1991! The vote was a lopsided 86 to 6. Alaska’s senators, the late Ted Stevens and Frank Murkowski, both Republicans, voted in favor of ratification. that is what the alaska island story is about.

There is not a single kernal of corn used to make Bio diesel. They take soy beans, extract the oil, which leaves the soy meal. - This soy meal is then used to make "food" if you call Tofo food. The soy oil is unhealthy oil, and therefore, making bio diesel from it, is a GOOD use.

In response to your comment "do the math", you should know I've developed a spreadsheet of the sort I used when I was in private practice doing fairly sophisticated after-tax discounted cash-flow analysis. If you perform a life-cycle cost analysis, it will show that the new vehicles justify a higher price somewhere around $4,000 or more depending on the economics of electricity and fuel (before considering the contributory value of tax considerations). I used 11 cents per KwH and a fuel cost of $4 which is well below current prices. Want to compare spreadsheets? I used assumptions extracted from Consumer Reports recent re-test of a 2002 Prius and other information to indicate the trade-in value of an unservicable battery.

I saw your critial remark posted on the news item "EVs Hitting the (Frozen) Ground Running." This is a really good article for me, because I drive only in Alaska where the temperature is below freezing about half the year, sometimes WELL below freezing. Most cars present maintenance and operating challenges after a few weeks at 20 below or colder. As to those who think they're overpriced, consider the cost-per-mile of a conventional powerplant compared to a hybrid or EV. The difference justifies a significantly higher purchase price, depending on local costs for gas vs electricity (before considering tax consequences). I'll keep an open mind and a sharp analytical methodology over the next five years or so, then decide which vehicle suits my needs best. This will be interesting -- except for those who get their exercise jumping to conclusions. I look forward to seeing your more thoughtful posts in the future.
