I would favor government funding for hydrogen cell development because it would decrease our need for oil and would bring oil prices down.

They have been subsidizing this industry for years, long before it became popular. They continue to do so. With all the private money being invested in this industry, it should actually stop subsidizing it and invest in other energy research such as methanol.

I thought they already did that. They had the fuel made from corn for awhile and then the pumps and fuel disappeared about as quickly as they appeared.

I would oppose the federal government funding the research, yet I would favor the government encouraging the research. Let the commercial market drive - prices, in the end, will be more realistic as a result.
