T42 and YaB: you're right. Too bad that people in this country for the most part can't see past the ruse and just believe Faux Noise all around w/out doing their own thinking or research.

The Keystone XL would be a safer route to transport the Canadian oil, let's get her built!

TransCanada has a great plan. Leaking pipelines and leaking oil tankers.

BIG OIL & GAS love us
"Pipeline route is safe" ... so says BIG OIL
"Cigarette smoking is safe" ... so says BIG TOBACCO
Who needs science and Doctors when you can get advice from BIG GREED industry shills & trolls?
Congressional testimony admitting: - pipeline will INCREASE domestic fuel prices because of plans to EXPORT fuel - pipeline threatens water supplies - "technology ahead of regulatory oversight" - need for "updated safety regulations" because tarsands oil is "more dangerous" ... - Transcanada has been "threatening landowners" to force them to allow pipeline - Trandscanada has no legitimate claim for "eminent domain"
BIG OIL & GAS love us

Pipelines are only as safe as you make them. If you take changes, and cut corners, then mistakes can happen.

I am all for the Keystone XL pipeline, but it seems like they have a few hurdles to cross and some problems to solve if they expect to build a pipeline that traverses the U.S. The northern Gateway pipeline has its own problems, too, so it would behoove TransCanada to work with American ranchers, if they favor the route towards the Gulf of Mexico.
My biggest objection is the way that American property owners seem to have no say in negotiating any easements across their land. It doesn't appear that this project will ever work to the mutual happiness of the parties if it must go through the environmentally sensitive land of Nebraska. Why not chart a new route where property owners would not find the pipeline objectionable? Freedom and willing parties always work out better.

So now the Canadians have given up on the Keystone Pipeline and have a way to send oil to the west coast and on to Asian markets. So much for Obama's dithering. I heard him take credit for the increased production on my way to work tonight. The speaker said that the US in 2010 produced 32% of it's own energy. The increase lately has been on private and state lands. The area under Obama's control has seen federal land drop from 32% to 19% since he took office.

It's safe because they were told to SAY SO. They've offered absolutely no proof of researching anything, they're just SAYING SO be cause the Prime Minister's Office told them to. They're absolutely no obstacles LIKE THE ONE THAT SUNK THE BC FERRY right there that everyone in BC knows about, eh?

Madam is right that the oil is under the water or ground. That's were oil comes from under the water and ground. It's part of mother earth and if oil was bad for the earth why after billions of years we are still alive.
Only the far left tree huggers think oil is bad
Build the pipeline and if the president want then vote him out in november.

The port of Kitimat is not an easy port to enter, It requires a Pilot on board to enter, that should tell you the risks right there

sydb7: Do you mean "Remember the Exxon Valdez"?
Valdez is the port town in Alaska.
The ship that spilled between one-quarter and three-quarters of a million barrels of crude oil in the waters at the town of Valdez, Alaska was named the Exxon Valdez. Some of that oil is still there, buried under the surface along the shoreline. All one has to do is dig below the surface to find oil.

There goes the Canuck oil.
Greenies don't seem to understand that the product will be used because there is demand. Changing the route or the customer does not meet their STATED goal.
The real goal is destroying industrialized (western-free) society.
Green is red.

When you cook a meal, does not some of the food material get spilled or otherwise lost in production? Has this stopped you from nourishing yourself because of this occurance? Or do you just try to be more careful to avoid waste and clean up food prep residues?

hagar2935: most disrespectful to the President of the United States.
Nothing could be farther from the truth. Who do you blame for the oil being sold to China? It is GREED on the part of the big oil corporations as well as the bankers who believe, along with Mitch McConnell, that they can hold onto their money to ensure that the President serves only one term. It took GW 8 years to put us into this hole. Did you really think the President would get us out in one term? But then, you make sure he does not succeed by refusing to give qualified people mortgages for homes. You hold onto your money to make sure the unemployment rate is maintained at the level it is.
"There will always be residual risk in any project," says the report.
Is that something like collateral damage when civilians are killed in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan? ––––––––––––– BTW, The title is misleading most readers here that a report has found that the pipeline refers to the Keystone pipeline. This report is about shipping oil to foreign markets directly from Canada, and that Keystone pipeline project is not necessary if the buyers of the oil have refineries, which was the primary reason the pipeline would have been built to the Gulf coast where the most refineries are located.
