LOL, joeski1, PDQ and Cakes just hate the facts don't they?
Remember, I don't make this stuff up, the info is out there for anyone that seeks the truth. Refute the article? What's there to refute? The fact that State Farm is so sure there's no risk from earthquake damage that they are pushing to collect premiums from paranoid buyers? That's already perfectly clear!
A little history on Texas earthquakes from, wait for it.... the USGS!
Several recorded quakes in this region of Texas (I guess they were fracing back in 1891! LOL. Notice how the purveyors of fear and paranoia only say 'never before specifically in Cleburne' purposefully glossing over the past history of quakes in the REGION. Quakes don't recognize geopolitical boundaries you know!

"During the fracking process, many millions of gallons of water, sand, and chemicals are injected a mile or more underground. As the gas is produced, much of it surges to the surface, often accompanied by subsurface brine. The "water" is almost impossible to treat. So the best idea the industry has at the moment is to inject into deep water-bearing formations like the Ellenburger."
and who will dispute this point are being inaccurate?

"Per USGS data, there have been some 32 tremors in Johnson County alone since 2008. The first "felt" earthquakes in Dallas and Tarrant counties occurred in 2008, some seven weeks after waste-water injection began at a well near the Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport."

Will they also cover alien attacks?
Great business idea. Additional coverage at zero cost.

Insure them and then bill/sue the fracking company for damages.

Doeslayersr is correct, selling insurance based on fear and paranoia, knowing full well claims will not succeed.
LOL, they should be able to sell a lot of policies to the victims of this fear and paranoia.
Now we can just add insurance to the list of non scientific tripe the anti-oil and gas nuts produce.

doeslayersr has valid points. I suppose I could have missed it, but as a resident of this state, I've not seen a single report relative to earthquakes in that region or anywhere else in Texas. Surely, if that was a real threat it would be much more publicized. This sounds as though StF is trying to create a market whether it exists or not.

Sounds like a money making venure on the part of State Farm. Insurance companies do not stay in business very long by losing money.
I guess this is their subtle way of saying fracking induced quakes are not very likely!!!

Let's see the industry doesn't want to insure fracking (see other articles here) BUT they are more than willing to insure homeowners against the damage...does anyone else find that a little humorous?

I Had State Farm Once and they are the sleaziest of the sleazey's This is how they will work this: first they con the people into the insurance then if there is an Earthquake they'll say prove it was the Fracking that caused it. We know how that will go don't we.
This is copied from another news item on this site - ABC News - Associated Press -- Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. has become the first major insurance company to say it won't cover damage related to a gas drilling process that blasts chemical-laden water deep into the ground.

Knowing the way most insurance policies work? I would suggest you read the policy very carefully before signing. Most likely, you are only covered if the quake occurs on the sixth Sunday of the month.

A great way for State Farm to make a few buck. Kind of like people who bought insurance against being killed by SpaceLab back in the late 70s (iirc). Hey, if I own a company and some sucker wants to buy insurance from me to protect himself against something that will never happen, I'd be supid to say no.

State Farm is all about making money. I am sure they have calculated the risks involved and believe that they will escape any major claims- we will see.

I thought fracking does not cause earthquakes. If the oil industry and their advocates are maintaining and have concluded fracking does not cause earthquakes, then State Farm will never pay out a claim.

State Farm wants to do this? Relax then, their engineers must have figured out that they are similar to mine "settlements" and do very little surface damage so they will offer the coverage and profit from the venture.
